Student Handbooks and Annual Notice to Parents

School districts are required to annually notify students and their parents on a wide variety of topics including information on curriculum, testing, discipline, safety and much more.  Referring to the information in these documents will help ensure your child has a good experience in our schools.  We encourage you to contact your child's principal or the district office if you have questions, require clarification or wish to make a suggestion.  Your thoughtful input is appreciated.

Core Reading List

The Core Reading List (formerly known as the Core Literature List) specifies the literary works and readings students in Templeton Unified School District must read at each grade level.  The recommended list is reviewed annually, as required by policy, by the English Language Arts (ELA) Curriculum Committee.

A number of changes were made for the 2016/17 school year.  Some titles were removed, some added, a few moved from grade to grade, and some titles have been moved from "Core" to "Supplemental."  With the changes in the new California State Standards (CSS), there is a need to have our core reading include both fiction and non-fiction reading material.  Our schools are currently looking at new curriculum options, with a likely adoption of ELA/ELD curriculum K-8 happening either 2016/17 or 2017/18.  These adoption choices will likely bring about further changes to the Core Reading List over the next two years.
